SCOUTING REPORT: Matthew is a 2021 graduate; and he is a LHP/1st/OF.  Matthew attends the Latin School of Chicago. He is the consummate student-athlete who excels in the classroom and on the baseball diamond. This outstanding LHP has so much potential and his upside is endless. He has solid fundamentals with his delivery and as he gets stronger and matures his velocity will increase from the current range to the mid-80's. Matthew throws a fastball, a curve, and a splitter. His ball has tremendous movement and his off speed junk is very precise. Matthew has done a great job of working on his spot placement and he uses his brain when he is on the mound. He is very effective at getting the ground balls hit for outs and keeps the ball down in the strike zone with that movement.  He is a good outfielder, good enough that he plays the outfield every inning he doesn’t pitch. He is not considered a “Pitcher Only” on his school team or his summer team. He reads the ball very well off the bat, has a good first step, and limits bases runners with his strong, accurate arm from the outfield. He also has a good glove at 1B. Matthew is the type of player who will do anything in his power to outwork the next player. He will push himself harder than anyone and will outwork the other players. His work ethic is second to none. Get this exceptional student on your radar for the 2021 recruiting class.
